Match Play Tournament

CONGRATULATIONS to Eric Prehofer, winner of the 2009 Match Play tournament! Eric was undefeated in seven consecutive matches throughout the tournament.

The Men's Club Match Play Tournament spans the entire golf season. Each match is 18 holes and is based on net scores on each hole. 100% of the handicap difference is used.

This year's tournament is a double elimination event that will determine the final eight participants who will enter the single elimination Championship Round.

Players are seeded in the event so they will be competing against golfers with similar handicap levels until the championship round is reached.

The cost for the event is $20 and will be automatically charged to your member account.

Anyone in the Match Play tournament who wishes to withdraw from the event must inform the Pro Shop immediately so we may have an alternate player inserted from the waiting list.

The following members members are competing in this year's Match Play tournament. The displayed indexes were current at the beginning of the tournament and are shown only to reflect the initial seeding. The handicaps used in the matches are the golfers' current handicaps at the time of the match.

FORMAT & RULES

1) RCGA Rules govern all play except where modified by local rules.

2) The stipulated round for all matches (except for the final Championship match) shall be 18 holes from the white tees. The final Championship match shall be a 36 hole competition from the white tees.

3) Use 100% of the handicap difference. Players shall use their full course handicaps from the white tees. The higher handicapped player receives the difference between the course handicaps of the two players. The lower handicapped player shall play from scratch.

4) A match which ends all square has two options to complete the match within the prescribed time shown on the draw:

i) Playoff hole by hole until one side wins a hole. Please use this method in all cases unless the match cannot continue due to darkness or either competitor cannot continue due to other commitments. The playoff shall start on the next hole where the match ends or an available hole as determined by the proshop staff (who will try to accommodate this when possible, but cannot guarantee it).

ii) Replay an 18 hole match with considerations to the time restrictions. This option should only be used as a last resort.

5) Matches shall be completed according to the dates posted on the draw. The outcome of matches that are not completed within the prescribed times shall be determined by the Committee. Players will have the opportunity to state their case in writing and submitted to the proshop prior to the deadline. Committee rulings will be final.

6) The format for the initial round is double knockout, which guarantees two matches. Please update the draw immediately after completion of your match. Matches are intended to be friendly, sociable golf, played in the spirit of the game.

7) The Championship round will consist of the eight bracket winners from the A and B sides and will be a single knockout.

8) Prizes will be awarded as follows:

- Champion: $250
- Runner-up: $200
- Semifinalists: 2 @ $150
- Quarterfinalists: 4 @ $100
